What DO doctors and nurses know about vaccines?
Turns out, not much. Same for all other "healthcare" professionals.
“Vaccination is one of the most highly effective public health interventions, responsible for saving millions of lives each year.”
I’m sure you have heard this a lot. I certainly have. Every time I have attended a pharma sponsored event, or CDC “vaccine education” event, that is the opening line.
“Anti-vax parents posting on social media are spreading misinformation and lies! Ask a medical professional for advice on vaccines. They’re the experts!”
Yep. Heard that one a lot, too.
In May of 2016, while I was attending the AutismOne Conference in Chicago, there was a panel discussion after the viewing of the film VaxXed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe. The audience consisted of about 1,000 parents and family members of vaccine-injured children who had just watched the film together. One of the members of the panel was Dr. Rachael Ross, MD, PhD, former member of the cast of The Doctors television show. Because by that time I had already heard quite a lot from my own doctor and nurse friends about the miniscule amount of information they had actually been taught about vaccines, and because I knew someone would be filming, I asked the following questions of Dr. Ross:
As a physician who was going into practice… who was preparing to go into practice… to vaccinate… what were you taught, specifically, about vaccines? How much information did you get on ingredients? On the studies of them all given together? And how much information did you actually receive that prepared you for that?
Dr. Rachael Ross responded:
They don’t teach us about the ingredients. They don’t teach us about the studies behind it. I think what they teach us is that they’ve always been given, and that they cure diseases, and you just do it. And honestly… you know… from the outside looking in now, and as we’re saying this to all you people, I almost feel like an ass…
Are there any other doctors in here practicing medicine? It’s kinda like you just feel – you wake up one day and you just feel like, ‘Gosh… you know… I just am blindly, like a robot… going through with this, with no real data, no real information… didn’t know what was in them…’ And that’s part of why physicians are very resistant to this information. Because you have to sit at home, right? You have to sit at home and redigest and relearn everything that you’ve learned… and come to terms with the damage that you’ve potentially caused over the years.”
The video of this exchange was on YouTube but has been removed due to censorship. I had the foresight to transcribe it verbatim into a note on my phone, partly because the video was a little fuzzy and hard to understand in some places, so when I posted it elsewhere, I wanted to include the transcript. Thankfully, there is another source that can validate this actually happened. This is from someone named Brandon Turbeville, who writes a blog called Natural Blaze:
I am thankful that somebody else documented this, as the video appears to be gone. If anyone has a copy of it, please let me know.
You might be tempted to think that Dr. Rachael’s experience was an anomaly. That’s understandable. It’s a hard thing to even contemplate that one’s trusted pediatrician or family doctor really doesn’t know squat about what he or she is injecting into your babies, toddlers, children, and teens. Or you.
On January 21, 2021, I made a Facebook post, in which I asked my friends in the “healthcare” industry to tell me about their educational experiences.
The post came around in my memories January 1st, 2023, and I resurrected it with another post, since I couldn’t share it without being censored and put in “Facebook jail.”
And here we are now, six-and-a-half years after the original post was made, and there are nearly 1,400 comments in the two threads. As of July 24, 2026, the post from January of 2021 currently has 940 responses. The post from January of 2023 has 437 comments. Many of the comments are from medical professionals. Many are from people who are reading the comments of the medical professionals and proclaiming their shock and dismay.
Here is a sampling of the comments from some of the medical professionals:
The first one is from my long-time friend, Dr. Gayl Hamilton, who sadly passed from cancer a couple of years ago. I have left her name on her comment. The others I have blacked out.
This next comment is in two parts, due to length.
The following comments are not all from medical professionals, but I want to include them in this discussion because I believe it is extremely important to know just how seriously the complete lack of training on vaccines is affecting the most vulnerable infants.
And this. The last one I am including here. I am including it because of the absolute truth of the commenter’s words.

The answer is they don’t know a whole lot about vaccines.
Great article Marcella!
It reminds me of how little most mainstream healthcare professionals know about nutrition.
Dr Robert Mendhelson's "How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor" came out while I was in chiro school back in the 80's. 35 years ago there were not so many people beating this drum. The topic is now hitting critical mass. The difference today compared to back when I started is stunning as far as the sheer numbers of people asking difficult questions about vaccines.
And here is the other thing I can note as an old guy...
Back in the day, the "antivaxxers" (I hate the word) were the progressives - those leaning left on the political spectrum. Today, that is mostly the opposite. I saw a patient yesterday that I have a good enough long-term relationship with; that I asked about that very thing. This person told me that they and their spouse have lost large numbers of their progressive friends because of this. And they don't dare bring it up around their children.
Thanks for fighting the good fight!
Blessings!
